Staff
Our Staff and Coaches are amazing teachers of the game! NCAA Division I, II and III current and past coaching experience. USA former players and coaches, All American regional and national former players.
Coaches
MFL players get to work with NCAA I, II and III division coaches at the many camps, clinics and Lacrosse exposures in the different regions. Our High School teams are coached by current NCAA Division III coaches. Our middle School teams are coached by current NCAA Division I and II coaches.
Expertise
Extensive experience in player development and the recruitment process. Kristina Llanes is our recruiting coordinator who brings a wealth of experience to the table. She has coached in all three NCAA lacrosse divisions.

Krystin Porcella
Owner and President of Major Force Lacrosse
Krystin Porcella is a highly accomplished individual in the game of women’s lacrosse. She was a dual sport athlete at Loyola University in Maryland in both soccer and lacrosse. During her time at Loyola she participated in four National D1 Tournaments (1995-1998) and won the National Championship in 1997. She was named an All-American in both 1997 & 1998.
After her college playing years, Krystin went on to coach at Virginia Tech from 1999-2000. She later returned to Loyola University to coach from 2000-2023 where she made NCAA division I Lacrosse tournament appearances in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
After her college coaching years, she coached from 2005-2013 at her high school alma mater John Carroll High School in Maryland where they were Conference Champions in 2007 & 2008 and named the #1 HS girls lacrosse team in the nation. From 1996-1998 she was a player on the FIL USA National Team and in 2007 became the Assistant Coach. In 2011 she became the head coach for the USA FIL National team where she guided them to a World Championship.
Krystin is the President of Top of the Bay Sports,Signature Sports Collective, Elite Lacrosse Club, PlayAction Sports & Social Club and Major Force Lacrosse. She is also the Vice President of The International Athletics Group. Krystin has been inducted in the John Carroll High School Hall of Fame for both as a player as well as a coach. In addition, she was inducted into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2008.
Mary Schwartz

Mary Schwartz is formerly the Head Coach for women’s lacrosse at Roanoke College for 17 years!
MFL Team Coach: MFL 2025 Blue
Lacrosse Memory: I would have to say one that stands out was the ’07 team at Roanoke! We had an amazing season with a record of 14-2 and made it to the ODAC finals. Usually, only one team make the NCAAs with an automatic bid and since we came in second, I sent the team home. The selection show was on a Sunday and the men had won the ODACs so they were watching. One of my players was still on campus and she was watching with hopes we would get an at-large bid. I was not watching. I get a phone call from one of the men’s coaches and he told me we got a bid. I didn’t believe him and had him put someone else on the phone. It was Chris, the SID, and he told me we got a bid and were hosting! I had sent the team home…what was I going to do?! We got everyone back to campus by Monday, has two practices, played CNU in the first round and won!! What an amazing year that was!
Role Model: I would have to say my dad! he was the one that pushed me to be the best. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and college. One thing that he did was when we played any game – badminton, ping pong, cards, board games, golf – he never let us win. He made us work for it and that has stuck with me throughout my whole life. You have to work hard to be the best! Nothing is handed to you.

Russell Mackey

Lacrosse Memory: Having the opportunity to coach a young lady with severe motor skill issues due to a neurological disease; watching her motor skills develop and improve because of her hard work and dedication. The doctors at the Mayo Clinic could not believe her progress due to her effort on and off the field. This young lady will forever remain in my memory for her effort and, quite frankly, her courage.
Role Model: My late dad and his father in law, my grandfather. They taught me about hard work, honesty, integrity, and giving back. They didn’t make lots of money or build great empires but they were beloved by all who came in contact with them because of their character and their moral qualities.

Randall Swope

Lacrosse Memory: Coaching my 2021 MFL Black Team in a game that was aired on ESPN in July of 2020. What an amazing experience everyone had that day! As a player it was winning the 2001 World Cup playing for Team USA!
Role Model: Carol Cantele, The former Gettysburg College Coach. She taught me the importance of culture and wearing many hats as a coach.
Favorite Quote: A good coach will make their player see who they can be rather than who they are.
Kristin Ramey
Head Coach at McDaniel College

Lacrosse Memory: There are so many! One that stands out is my first midnight madness practice to start the spring season (and each subsequent one thereafter) being back at my alma mater as head coach while rocking my green swooshi pants. The Green Terror!
Role model: All my female coaching colleague moms and wives who balance family and this amazing profession!
Favorite Quote: Attitude is the mind’s paintbrush. It can color any situation.
Jess Smith
Head Coach at Kalamazoo College

Lacrosse Memory: Coach Jess has a few! First win over conference rival at Kalamazoo, coaching the U15 teams in Canada and Florida, coaching her team in the Maryland High School State Championship game!
Role Model: My role model is Krystin Porcella!

Erica Brown
Head Coach at Roanoke College
Erica Brown is currently the Head Coach for the women’s lacrosse program at Roanoke College located in Salem Virginia. Previously, she spent ten years as the Head Coach for the women’s lacrosse program at Tiffin University.
MFL Team: 2026 Black
Brown previously served as Head Coach at Lycoming College, leading the team to a 19-17 overall record, 15-8 in the Middle Atlantic Conference over her two seasons. During that span she coached three All-Region and nine All-Conference players while also guiding 18 student-athletes to Academic All-Conference honors.
She played lacrosse at Wagner College. A standout goalkeeper, Brown still ranks second all-time in Wagner history in career minutes played, career saves and career goals against average. She also holds the record for minutes played in a season and ranks second in saves in a season. A co-captain of the team in her senior year, she was ranked on lax.com as one of the top-12 goalies in all of Division I.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy and administration from Wagner College in 2005 and is finishing her master’s degree in liberal arts from Lock Haven. She is certified as a lacrosse referee by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) and U.S. Lacrosse.
